Armenia tuned to medical tourism development

Armenia’s healthcare ministry received Thursday heads of organizations providing dental services and specialized associations, the press office of the ministry reports.  After greeting participants of the meeting, David Melik-Nubaryan, acting chief of the healthcare ministry’s unit in charge of medical assistance policy, said that medical services in Armenia have a rich record and a huge potential for competing at international markets.

Studies show that about 12% of visits of Armenian-descent tourists to the country are motivated by their intention to receive medical services here.

The healthcare ministry and the economic development and investments ministry have worked out jointly a number of measures to spread on international platforms information about dental centers.

Ani Rubenyan, a medical assistance policy expert, presented in details aims, advantages and key conditions of involvement of organizations into online information platform and also feedback mechanisms.

Specialists presented their proposals putting special emphasis on the importance of professional responsibility insurance.

It was decided to include in the final version of the project.
