Overview

Tsaghkadzor town (in Armenian means “gorge of flowers”), the magical place of forested mountains. Short walking tour around the small town. Opportunity to go up to the mountain peaks by ropeway, where you will catch an unforgettable gorgeous panoramic view from Teghenis Mountain. In winter Tsakhkadzor is a well-known ski resort with several levels of ropeways leading up the mountains, in summer it’s a pleasant place to spend time in nature and enjoy the sun.

Sevan Lake is set 1900m above sea level and covering 1240 sq km. It is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in the world.

On the peninsula of lake is standing Sevanavank monastery. According to an inscription in one of the churches, the monastery of Sevanavank was founded in 874. The two churches of the complexare both cruciform plan structures with octagonal tambours. Sevanavank has a large collection of khachkars (stone crosses) and khachkar fragments, with outstanding examples from each period of the monastery’s history.
